Jon Stewart once again is spot on.

I like the comparison of teachers as our wealthy "fat cat" neighbors who we should have class envy of. As opposed to you know....bankers. No class envy there, that's wrong.....unless it's teachers. Then class envy is appropriate.

They also mentioned the "bad apples" on wall street, but then conveniently ignore that most teachers work real hard and a few "bad apples" are being targeted.

That was hilarious. Unfortunately too many aren't familiar with the Angry Bird game/app to catch the humorous reference.

What's really crazy is all the talk about class envy, and then Stewart accurately points out exactly what people with massive amounts of assets do in that situation...turn you against people just like you on the basis of "class".

Which is exactly what the Koch brothers are funding.

I was reading some investment news this morning and came across this:

    Education is Key

To get the full benefit of a demographic dividend, a country's economy has to be organized so that the available profits from a growing work force -- profits that are hitting a peak due to the relatively smaller number of children and oldsters -- get reinvested in the economy. A country such as Libya or Egypt, where a substantial part of any profit is siphoned off for the benefit of a relatively small ruling clique or family, will show only modest benefits from any demographic dividend.

Looking for countries that might be about to reap a demographic dividend and that have the institutions in place to exploit that opportunity represents one way to look for the next China or India.

Three countries look promising on this basis:

    • Indonesia, with a median age of 27.9, a combined youngster/oldster population of 34.1%, and a literacy rate of 90.4%.
    • Turkey, with a median age of 28.1, a combined youngster/oldster population of 33.3%, and literacy rate of 87.4%.
    • Colombia, with a median age of 27.6, a combined younger/oldster population of 33.5%, and a literacy rate of 90.4%.

And yet here we are as a society...not emphasizing education.

Unfortunately, Walker wants to cut millions of dollars from our education system. It's a damn shame that people don't realize how important education is! If those cuts go through we could be screwed in WI.
